Ms. Sarina Burke, Registrar, (p) 617-696-4470 x 5610, (e) Registration@miltonps.org, Fax - 617-696-5038

Thank you for your inquiry into registering your child in the Milton Public Schools.

Effective immediately, the Milton Public Schools will be accepting online registrations for students enrolling for:

  • The remainder of the 2019-20 school year
  • Kindergarten for the 2020 - 21 school year
  • Students enrolled in private Kindergarten and wish to enroll their child in Grade 1 in the Milton Public schools for the 2020-2021 school year.

All other registrations for the school year 2020-2021 will be conducted in July and August 2020.

If your child falls into one of the above categories, please visit the MPS Registration Packet, print the packet, and complete all sections. Once completed please scan and email electronic copies of the following to registration@miltonps.org:

  • Completed registration packet
  • Birth Certificate
  • Most recent physical exam
  • Up to date immunizations
  • Proof of residency documentation (see page 13 of MPS Registration Packet)

The Director of Nursing, Kim Coughlin, will review all submitted health and emergency information forms, physical health form and immunization records to ensure all documents have required information.

When school reopens, families will be required to provide original copies of the birth certificate, landlord living agreement (where applicable), and property owner certification form (where applicable) in order for their child(ren) to remain enrolled in the Milton Public Schools.  Should a home visit be required, this will take place once school operations resume.

Please note that most Milton Public Schools staff are working remotely and so we ask for your understanding if response times are slower than expected.  Please email Registrar Sarina Burke if you have any questions or need additional information.

RESIDENCY RE-ESTABLISHMENT

In the Spring of 2015, the Milton School Committee passed a Residency Policy that states students who are enrolled in the Milton Public Schools shall be required to re-establish residency prior to entering grade six(6) and/or grade nine(9), and during other times as determined by the Superintendent or his/her designee.  The Residency Policy can be found here.

As a parent/guardian of a student entering grade six(6) and/or grade nine(9) for the next school year or if you presently have a student entering grade six(6) and/or grade nine(9) who attends an educational program outside of town, you are required to complete the  Re-establish Residency Packet found here. This process is one of the safeguards used by the Milton Public Schools to ensure that all students enrolled in our schools are residents of the Town of Milton. Although the re-registration process may be an inconvenience for some families, we hope that residents understand that this is a valuable tool to protect taxpayers in the Town of Milton. We work year-round on residency issues and this is simply one more method to assist us with ensuring residency compliance.

The district has designated Tuesday, May 26 to Friday, June 12 for the acceptance of Re-establish of Residency Packets. A letter has been sent via email to all families who must re-establish residency and it is linked here. To comply with social distancing, all re-establishments will take place remotely.

The Re-establish Residency Packet can be found here. Please submit your Re-establishment packet between May 26 and June 12 to the following email: residency@miltonps.org.

If you are unable to upload the required documents, please put all necessary documents in a sealed envelope and place in the lockbox which is located outside the main entrance of Milton High School.

Please email Ms. Sarina Burke, MPS Residency Coordinator at sburke@miltonps.org with any questions.

Grade One Enrollment Information

Enrollment in the Grade One French Immersion program is limited in each school.  If there are  more students who select French Immersion at a school than there are seats available a school based lottery will be held to determine who is enrolled in the program.  The limited seats for the program means that there is no guarantee that a student will be able to enter the French Immersion program.  See the Grade One Assignment Policy. See the Grade One Information Night Presentation from 2/25/2020 here.
