Dear MPS Community,
My name is jamele adams. Please allow me to introduce myself as our new Director for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)! My name is intentionally spelled in lower case to signal more focus on the work and that I am a smaller component in the energy of love. Raised in a loving single parent home, my mother introduced me to the great “bell hooks”, by which that introduced me to this action of spelling your name in a lower case (she did first) and I adopted it. I’m a father, husband, son, brother and Black male. I use he-series pronouns and excitedly absorb opportunities to bring people together! The core of who I am is rooted in love, inclusion and trust. Please bear with me on these next few words; I hail from the same city as the home of the 2026 NBA Champion New York Knicks😁! However, my professional heart and love are proudly right here in Milton!
Thank you for this opportunity to join Milton Public Schools. Together, we reflect and continue building from the conversations and contributions of educators, scholars, staff, families, caregivers and community members that engaged each other to make this moment come into fruition. Ours is a journey built on safety, the love of education, inclusive energy, trust, transparency and the impact of a meaningful and positive educational experience.
I look forward to all that we will do together! An upcoming opportunity for us to be together is at an OPEN HOUSE “meet and greet” being hosted by yours truly on September 28th at our Milton Public Library from 6-8PM. At this occasion we’ll learn more about each other, share ideas, explore potential plans and be in the space together. This is one of many more to come, whereas we will be in community and in connection.
