Summer reading

We are excited to kick off our Summer Reading Challenge with the Milton Public Library! This is a fun and free way to track your child's reading using the reading platform Beanstack. The Challenge runs from June 12 until August 27, and participation in this program is required summer work for all Milton elementary students finishing grades K-5 in school year 2024-2025. Incoming kindergarteners are encouraged but not required to participate.

Over the next two weeks, Mr. Coben, our elementary librarian, will be teaching lessons to all classes about the Summer Reading Challenge, talking about book selection, recording minutes, library events and more. After that lesson, students (and families) will have "homework" - completing this form sharing whether they were able to connect their accounts, sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge, or if they need assistance to sign up.

Finally, save the date to celebrate the start of Summer Reading with our Summer Reading Kick-Off event on Thursday, June 12, from 4-6 PM. At this outdoor event, registered summer readers entering Grades K-6 in fall 2025 are invited to join us for lemonade and cookies and activities - like a chalk obstacle course, temporary tattoos, a new StoryWalk story, and a swag bag scavenger hunt!
